Why does your ministry’s logo read “Acts 20/20” (20-slash-20), rather than the grammatically proper “Acts 20:20” (20-colon-20)?
“20/20” is a commonly known reference for someone having a correct field of vision, and using it in our logo is a visual reminder that we must maintain a constant and clear focus of the field of work that God has laid before us.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do you think of the opinion that door-to-door evangelism is out-dated, and doesn’t work any longer?
We strongly believe that door-to-door evangelism has worked continually for 2,000+ years, the real problem of our times is that far too many of God’s people do not really work at doing it. The Bible is filled with instances of the proclamation of the Gospel bringing men to salvation, as is hundreds and hundreds of years of Christian history; we at Acts 20/20 are unaware of one soul that has been redeemed due to a coffee’s flavor or a carpet’s padding.
How is giving away Bibles relevant to a (post) modern 21st century America?
Merriam-Webster defines the word “relevant” as:
“having significant and demonstrable bearing on the matter at hand”
There is no more significant figure in the history of the world than the person of Jesus Christ. Since He is God, and thus is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent, it should go without even being said that His book has more “demonstrable bearing” on the matter (life) at hand than anything and everything else all of us combined could name. In other words, the one single thing that is always, has always, and will always be utterly relevant to all things in all times as long as life exists is the Lord Jesus Christ, and His book. He is the Creator of all life, and all else pales and ultimately fails by any and all comparison.
Don’t you think that you will offend people by doing this stuff door-to-door?
We know that some people will be offended by the work of this ministry. The Bible is supposed to be offensive to people who are unsaved, and also to the saved who are not living in the light of their salvation:
1Corinthians 1:18—For the word of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us who are saved it is the power of God. (ASV)
We hope that we meet people who are offended by the gospel—they are the ones who most need it. Will some offended people direct their anger at us personally when we are at their door, or on their block? Most likely they will, but it doesn’t matter:
2Timothy 1:7-8—For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; (KJV)
We are not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We knew before being saved, that salvation meant we were going to suffer for His sake while we still lived; the Bible says so—many times. We’ve been redeemed by Jesus, our eternity is settled, forever with our God awaits us; our lives—live or die—are a complete win-win. What is there to fear?
Philippians 1:21—For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. (KJV)
Amen and Amen !! :-)
Don’t you think it is narrow-minded to think that there is only one way for people to get to Heaven & to be with God?
Modern society tries to say that we are all entitled to our opinions, and that all viewpoints are valid. We are all allowed to have our own opinions—that is true; but all viewpoints are absolutely not equally valid—many are totally wrong. Of all viewpoints, none is of greater value than those of Jesus Christ Himself.
Matthew 7:13-14—"Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” (ESV)
John 14:6 - Jesus saith unto him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."
So are we “narrow-minded”? Absolutely! And we say thank you to the Lord God Almighty for making us narrow-minded, and we pray that He continues to narrow our minds and ways until the day He calls us home.
